Three teams were a cut above the rest of the pack last year, and expect that trio to still be at or near the top of the Class C South standings in 2016.

Yarmouth (the defending regional champion), Wells (regional finalist) and Cape Elizabeth all will look to re-load, rather than rebuild.

Spruce Mountain finished among three teams at 4-4 last year (behind 5-3 Fryeburg Academy), but the Phoenix feel like they have the talent to compete with the top three. Mountain Valley could rebound after a few down seasons thanks to a large and talented senior class.

Gray-New Gloucester and Poland were both at 4-4 with Spruce Mountain last year, but neither has a long history of success to fall back on. The Patriots came out of nowhere to earn their first postseason berth, but now must replace a dozen seniors. The Knights also must fill many senior shoes, and also have to learn new systems from a new coach. Both teams could be fighting with Lake Region and Freeport for the final playoff spots.
