Remembrance ceremony for 9/11
NORWAY — A remembrance ceremony will take place from 8:55 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, across from the American Legion Hall, Main Street.
Those attending should wear red, white and/or blue and bring a flag if possible to wave. For those who don’t have a flag, one will be provided.
The ceremony will be hosted by members of the American Legion, AMVETS, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries and Daughters of Union Veterans.
Norway-Paris Fish & Game Fall Shoots
PARIS — The Norway-Paris Fish & Game Association has set the dates for the annual Fall Shoots. They will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 11, 18 and 25, at 744 Buckfield Road, Route 117.
All are invited to join. The club offers voice-activated trap and running deer shoots for junior and senior shooters. There are prizes for each round and the overall winners in all categories will receive trophies at the Oct. 19 club meeting.
A lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs and homemade goodies will be available. The 10 gun raffle winners will be drawn at 3 p.m. Sept. 25.
The shoots are rain or shine.

Loon Echo Trek registration open
BRIDGTON — This year’s 2016 Loon Echo Trek will be Saturday, Sept. 17, starting and finishing at Shawnee Peak Ski Area. Registration closes Sunday, Sept. 11.
The 16th annual hiking and cycling event offers 25-, 50- and 80-mile routes for road cyclists. Hikers can choose between 4½- and 6-mile routes across the ridgeline of Pleasant Mountain. Trekkers can do a little of both with the Hike & Bike option.
All participants are welcomed back to Shawnee Peak for a post-trek party featuring a taco bar, beer, massages and live music from local band Junco.
The Loon Echo Trek benefits the Loon Echo Land Trust, which protects over 6,556 acres and manages 28 miles of multiuse trails in the northern Sebago Lake region.
