First Auburn Seniors to meet
AUBURN — The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the Hasty Community Center. The Steering Committee will meet at 10 a.m.
Those attending should bring a bag lunch and a basket for the basket auction to follow.
Fifty-one members attended the most recent meeting. Attendance winners were Alice Forbus and Carol Loyton; Pot of Gold, Belinda Gerry, Caroline Chapman and Marry Tassinari; and 50/50, Pat Donahue, Mary Tassinari and Diane Vincent.
Head Start participating in food program
LEWISTON — Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care has announced its participation in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program at 269 Bates St.

Retired educators to meet
LEWISTON — The Androscoggin Retired Educators will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at The Dolard & Priscilla Gendron Franco Center, 46 Cedar St. The speaker will be a representative of the Franco Center.
Soup and assorted sandwiches will be served for $11.
Dues are $10 for retired educators, $6 for a spouse, and free for honorary members who are 85 or older. Dues are payable in September.
The group will accept nonperishable food to be donated to a local food bank.
All retired educators are welcome, even those who taught outside of Androscoggin County or the state.

Burnt Meadow Chapter to meet
LEWISTON — The Mary Dillingham-Burnt Meadow Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Hope Haven, 209 Lincoln St.
John Robbins will speak about the U.S. Constitution.
Those attending should bring a bag lunch. Prospective members are welcome.
GAHS pet adoption Sept. 10-11
AUBURN — The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society will hold an adoption from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10 and 11, on Mount Auburn Ave.
All pets will be spayed or neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations before going to their new home. Adoption fees will be waived on all adult cats (6 months and older) and adult dogs (1 year and older and does not include transfer dogs) throughout the weekend.

LISBON — The Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship will meet and have a potluck lunch at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at the United Methodist Church on School Street.
All interested widows in the area are invited to attend.
The group meets on the first Monday of each month. It it falls on a holiday, the gathering is on the second Monday.
