First Universalist resuming services
PARIS — The First Universalist Church will resume church services at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, on Pine Street.
Marilyn Hammond and Sharon Bouchard will facilitate with special music selections and duet with flute and organ.
Daughters of Isabella to meet
RUMFORD — St. Timothy’s Circle No. 504, Daughters of Isabella, will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Holy Savior Church Hall.
Chairpersons for the meeting are Dot Benedix and Margaret Elliot. Committee members are Barbara Clark, Janette Blouin, Alfreda Kaubris and Sylvia Touchette.
Janet Blouin and Pearl Murphy will be congratulated for their years of membership. Blouin’s been a member for 39 years, and Murphy for 64 years.
‘What You Need to Know about Islam’
AUBURN — United Methodist Church of Auburn will offer the course “Love Your Muslim Neighbor as Yourself or What You Need to Know about Islam: Myth vs. Knowledge.”
This course aims to inform American Christians and non-Muslims about what Muslims believe and how they live out their faith. Through DVD presentations by 17 Christian and Muslim scholars, short readings and guided discussion, the class will work toward a better understanding of Islam and how to build relationships with Muslims.
The course will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 18 to Oct. 16. Dessert will be served.

Church to celebrate Mabon
AUBURN — The First Universalist Church of Auburn will celebrate Mabon with a ritual and potluck from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at 169 Pleasant St.
Mabon, a pagan holiday, marks the middle of the harvest and the autumn equinox, when day and night are in balance.
Planned activities for children and adults include coloring pages, fall leaf wreath-making and rowan berry protective charms.
Participants are asked to bring snacks to share. All are welcome.
