BRIDGTON — Bridgton Hospital will present a two-part community education program for those living with congestive heart failure from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 and Oct. 6.
Classes will be in the Bridgton Physicians Group Conference Room in the old hospital building at 25 Hospital Drive. Entrance is located at the right side of the building.
On Sept. 29, registered nurses Nancy Murphy and Ann Kulovitz will introduce the program and discuss goals and resources that can be helpful in dealing with chronic heart failure.
Cardiologist Alan Langburd will discuss the disease process and its signs and symptoms. Langburd practices with Bridgton Hospital Specialty Clinics and previously served as director of cardiac rehabilitation at the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute in Lewiston.
Wrapping up the first session will be Kimberly Smart, who will discuss the Prescription Assistance Program. This program serves as a patient advocate to assist eligible patients in receiving prescription medications through manufacturer-sponsored programs.
On Oct. 6, pharmacist Jennifer Cyr will discuss medications and heart failure. Registered nurses Nancy Murphy and Ann Kulovitz will go over diet and heart health, focusing on how diet affects congestive heart failure and what people can do to improve their eating habits. Registered respiratory therapist Gloria Morris will then address respiratory health and sleep apnea.
