LEWISTON —  The Lewiston Public Library is  partnering with the Maine Folklife Center to present a program entitled, “Threads of Our Lives: Maine Folk Fiber Art, on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 6 p.m., in Callahan Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The lecture-demonstration program features two Maine-based fiber artists, knitter Sally Wilson and tatter Elaine O’Donal, along with Katrina Wynn, an archivist and humanities specialist from the Maine Folklife Center. The presenters will be discussing Maine fiber arts traditions and practices and will be demonstrating techniques in an informal give-and-take with the audience.

The program is open to all, but local knitters and other fiber artists are encouraged to bring in samples of their work for others to look over. “Threads of Our Lives” is part of a special project funded by the Maine Arts Commission and the Lewiston Public Library has four large panels depicting the project on display in their first-floor new books area.
