AUBURN — The Auburn Housing Authority has announced this year’s winners of the scholarship competition for its residents and housing program participants.

Salma Mohamed is attending Brown University and was a delegate to Dirigo Girls State and Girls Nation. She attended the Seeds of Peace Camp and was co-salutatorian of her graduating class at Edward Little High School. She did water-quality testing in Lake Auburn for a University of Maine academic project and performed nearly 200 hours of community service in this area.

Ladan Iman is attending Springfield College and pursuing a master’s degree in social work. She has worked at the Pine Tree Camp and worked on a YMCA service trip to the Dominican Republic while building houses for families there. She has had several jobs mentoring and working with special-needs children and tutoring in after-school programs. She has also received a scholarship from the New England Regional Council of National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials in a six-state competition.
