NORWAY – The Board of Selectmen voted Thursday evening to renew the special amusement permit for Tucker’s Pub for six months, with the condition its employees take a training course for servers, Town Manager David Holt said.

Holt said the board asked that the police chief talk to the pub’s owner about having employees take the training course on serving.

“We’ve had a few incidents recently leaving some with the concern that people are leaving (Tucker’s Pub) after having had too much to drink,” Holt said. “Absent conclusive evidence, I have no desire to be anything but supportive of local business.

“The select board feels that to prevent injury and prevent anybody from potentially suing Tucker’s Pub, it would be a good idea for the employees to get that training,” he said.

Police Chief Rob Federico said the state Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages & Lottery Operations offers a class for servers that teaches about not overserving alcohol to customers, and adhering to special amusement permits.

In other business, the board appointed the following people to the Recreation Committee, effective until July 2017: Heather MacIsaac, Saara Leduc, Steven F. Merrill, Kelsey MacIsaac, Elizabeth Smith and Robert Walker.
