PORTLAND — The International Fine Art Auction next month will include more than 60 items from the personal collection of the Rev. Paul Plante, who served churches in Rangeley, Auburn and Lewiston, among other locations

The auction is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at the University of Southern Maine’s Abromson Center, 88 Bedford St., Portland.

Plante, who died June 30, arranged for all proceeds to be donated to the Father Plante Estate, which will be used for diocesan needs.

His collection features a wide array of art, including a framed, 15-segment oil painting titled “Lent 1987” that will be sold.

Overseeing the collection are Rob and Annette Elowitch of Barridoff Galleries in Portland and the Rev. Daniel Greenleaf, pastor of the Parish of the Holy Eucharist in Falmouth. Additional pieces of Plante’s original artwork and personal collection will be offered at future Barridoff Galleries’ events.

Plante served at St. Louis Church in Auburn from 1971-1975, and at Holy Cross in Lewiston from 1976 to 1985. He was pastor of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish in Rangeley from 2004 to 2016. In 2009, he was assigned as Vicar for Priests while continuing to serve at Our Lady of the Lakes.

Plante obtained his bachelor’s degree in fine arts in painting, with honors, in 1987 at the Maine College of Arts.
