DEAR SUN SPOTS: I enjoy reading your very informative column every day, often cutting out articles of importance and passing them on to family and friends. I am sorry I have been unable to locate my copy of the excellent article by Dr. Roach on sepsis published on Aug. 4. I would so appreciate if it could be run again. — Mary Beth, Litchfield.

ANSWER: You have a couple of options if there is ever an article that you misplace: you can search for it on sunjournal.com, which has an archive of all the articles that have run in the Sun Journal, or you can stop in to the Sun Journal’s main office at 104 Park St. in Lewiston to purchase the newspaper from that day.

If you search the website and are a subscriber, you should have no problem accessing the article. If you are not a subscriber and the website does not allow you to access a story, you may have already used your 10 free views for the month. If you are not a subscriber and your free views are used up, you are able to purchase a “day pass” for $1 which would allow you to find the article and print it.

If you do not have access to the website then you are welcome to stop in to the Sun Journal at 104 Park St. in Lewiston to purchase the paper with the desired article. The customer service department typically has copies of all the newspapers from the past 6 months, unless there was a day that sold out. If you are not sure when the article was in the paper, there is a book of newspapers from each day that you can look through to get the exact date. If you are a subscriber then you can purchase this paper for half the original price. If you are a non-subscriber, then the first copy is full price and any copy after that would be half price.

Since the Dr. Roach columns runs every day, we’re not able to republish the piece that ran in August because it wouldn’t leave space for that day’s fresh column.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Would you please inquire for me as to the people or organizations who might make use of the tabs from soda cans? — No name, no town.

ANSWER: The Ronald McDonald Houses in Portland and Bangor collect aluminum tabs from soda, tennis ball, vegetable, soup, pet food cans, etc. to raise funds to help families with sick children in the hospital stay close together during difficult times.

Tabs can be dropped off or mailed to:

Ronald McDonald House Portland

250 Brackett Street

Portland, Maine 04102

or

Ronald McDonald House Bangor

Bangor, Maine 04401

According to the RMHC Maine website, Maine Metal Recycling in Auburn weighs the tabs, pays the going rate for aluminum and sends a check to the Ronald McDonald House. The money raised guarantees no family is ever turned away. Additional information and resources can be found at: rmhcmaine.org/tab-top-program/
