PORTLAND — Oxford Hills/Buckfield dropped its second straight football game Saturday evening in a 36-7 loss to Portland.

A 20-yard touchdown pass from Issiah Bachelder to Ethan Hoyt, and a safety from an Oxford Hills snap that went out of the end zone gave the Bulldogs a 9-0 lead. That was bumped up to 16-0 when Jake Knop ran in from 9 yards out.

Dawson Stevens returned a kick for the Vikings’ (1-3) only touchdown to cut the deficit to 16-7.

Portland (3-1) pulled away from there with two field goals followed by two more touchdowns.

Field hockey

Leavitt 3, Erskine Academy 0

TURNER — Kaitlyn Leclerc scored two goals and had an assist to lead Leavitt to a 3-0 victory over Erskine Academy in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.

Leclerc scored each of her goals with less than one minute remaining in each half for the Hornets (6-3). Mackenzie Treadwell put Leavitt up 2-0 early in the second half.

Goalie Hannah Burns made six saves for the Eagles (4-5), while Hailey DeMascio turned back one to earn the win in net for Leavitt.

Poland 2, Cape Elizabeth 1, OT

POLAND — Freshman Faith Davis garnered the game-winning goal with 5:29 remaining in overtime as Poland edged Cape Elizabeth 2-1 in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.

The Knights (5-3-1) led 1-0 at the half behind a goal from Hwida Nawass. 

Emi Logue closed the gap to 2-1 for the Capers (4-4) with 8:30 remaining in the second half.

Kihnan McGrath made 13 saves for Cape Elizabeth, while Ashton Sturevant stopped four for Poland.

Oxford Hills 6, Bangor 0

BANGOR — Haley Wakefield and Bailey Wood scored two goals each as Oxford Hills cruised to a 6-0 victory over Bangor in field hockey action Saturday.

The Vikings led 2-0 at the half, and turned up the tempo in the second stanza. Erin Morton contributed three assists in the contest.

Kahua Maheux and Jenna Moxcey combined for 10 saves for Bangor, while Anna Huff repelled four to earn the win in net for Oxford Hills.

Girls’ soccer

Monmouth 6, Mt. Abram 0

SALEM — Haley Fletcher scored twice to lead the Monmouth Mustangs 6-0 over the Mt. Abram Roadrunners in a MVC girls’ soccer contest.

Aubrey Fletcher had a goal and an assist. Tia Day, Jordyn Gowell and Emily Grandahl each had a goal.

Katie Harris only needed to make three saves for the shutout as the Mustangs improve to 8-0 on the season. Abigayle Brackley made 12 saves for Mt. Abram (2-4-2). 

Men’s soccer

Bates 2, Wesleyan 0

LEWISTON — The Bates men’s soccer team earned its first NESCAC victory of the season with a 2-0 win over Wesleyan on Saturday.

Sophomore Drew Parsons of Farmington entered the game in the 31st minute at forward for the Bobcats (3-2-2) and didn’t waste any time and beating his defender to set up senior captain Luke McNabb, who ran in from center midfield for an easy finish.

In the 41st minute, junior midfielder Justin Yacovino found himself unguarded by the Cardinals (3-2-1) and set the stage for senior forward Matt DiVite to score his second goal of the season.

Husson 1, UMaine-Farmington 0

FARMINGTON — Cooper Antone fired a shot past the keeper in the 75th minute to lift Husson to a 1-0 triumph over the University of Maine at Farmington in men’s soccer action Saturday.

Josh Bean led the Eagles (2-3-2) with six shots, while Miguel Caballero tallied five shots.

Kyle Dugas and Braden Maillet led the offensive effort for the Beavers (2-5).

Goalie Ronie Morales made 11 saves for Farmington, while Cody Gross fended off four to earn the win in net for Husson.

UMaine-Presque Isle 3, CMCC 0

AUBURN — Derek Healy scored a pair of goals as the University of Maine at Presque Isle dispatched Central Maine Community College 3-0 in men’s soccer action Saturday.

The Owls (1-6-1) were strong on offense with a 16-6 margin in shots. Cody Blair rounded out the scoring for Presque Isle.

Goalie Austin Wing made seven saves for the Mustangs (1-5), while AJ Dolley turned away one to earn the win in net for Presque Isle.

Women’s soccer

Bates 2, Wesleyan 2

LEWISTON — The Bates women’s soccer team scored two goals in under a minute late in the second half to secure a 2-2 draw against Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinals (2-2-2) went up 2-0 about 10 minutes into the second half when Olivia Gorman’s slow roller was tapped in by Sarah Sylla.

The Bobcats (2-4-1) continued to fight. In the 83rd minute, sophomore Olivia Amdur blasted a shot high into the net off a pass from junior Hannah Behringer for her fourth goal of the season.

Then, in the 84th minute, junior Ainsley Jamieson delivered a great set piece for Behringer to knock in, tying the match at 2-2.

UMaine-Farmington 3, Husson 2

FARMINGTON — Junior Hadlee Yescott scored twice in the second half to lift the University of Maine at Farmington to a 3-2 victory over Husson University in women’s soccer action Saturday afternoon.

Yescott scored the tying goal, and then the decisive goal in a five-minute span. The Beavers (3-4) were trailing 2-1 when the junior found the back of the net in the 53rd minute on an assist from Katie Clark.

In the 58th minute, Yescott tallied the game-winning score with an assist from Bridget Humphrey.

College field hockey

Bates 3, Wesleyan 0

LEWISTON — Jessie Moriarty’s two goals in the first half catapulted the Bates field hockey team to a 3-0 NESCAC victory over Wesleyan University on Saturday.

Moriarty added her team-high fifth goal in the 25th minute on a penalty corner. From the top of the circle, Shelbie McCormack dished out to Moriarty on the left wing. Moriarty’s shot landed inside the near post and into the cage to put Bates up 2-0.

In the 53rd minute, the Bobcats (4-2) added an insurance goal when Isa Garcia-Moreno’s shot from the left was blocked and the long rebound came out to Alexa Jurgeleit, who fired inside the far corner for her first collegiate score.

Castleton 4, UMaine-Farmington 2

CASTLETON, Vt. — Castleton scored three times in the opening half en route to a 4-2 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.

The Beavers  (4-1) cut the deficit to 3-1 when Nickyia Lovely recorded her fourth goal of the year in the 47th minute.

After the Spartans (3-5) scored their fourth goal of the afternoon in the 58th minute, Emmah Spahr posted her team-leading 10th goal of the season in the 61st minute.
