The Sun Journal headline, “Jay man accused of firing shots during car repossession” (Sept. 22), seems to downplay the perhaps more serious information that the man, William Bowie, is a convicted felon who was subsequently found to be in possession of “nine firearms … and several rounds of ammunition, multiple fully-loaded magazines, and tactical accessories,” including (or in addition to) the .45-caliber handgun he shot during the “incident.”
The glaring question, and pertinent in light of Question 3 (gun sales background checks), is where/how did Bowie get all those guns?
People such as Bowie, whose felony conviction was for reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, should not be able to amass an arsenal. But he did. In Maine.
