I am supporting Emily Cain, who is running for the U.S. Congress.

Rep. Bruce Poliquin has voted to make Medicare a voucher system, cut Social Security and voted to give the Veterans Administration $1.4 million less than what it requested. It eliminated benefits for 70,000 veterans.

I am a retiree and a Vietnam veteran. Poliquin’s votes on those issues tell me that he is not honest because what he says is not how he votes.

Most workers rely heavily on Social Security and Medicare when they retire because many don’t have pensions or large retirement funds. Many have worked for low wages. Most people paid 7 percent of their income into Social Security and Medicare, which was matched by the employer. Veterans put their lives on the line for their country.

Emily Cain will vote to protect Social Security benefits, Medicare and provide the VA the resources for veterans.
