MEXICO — Funeral services for James J. Barrett, of Mexico, were conducted Saturday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. at the Mexico Congregational Church with the Rev. Izzie Radford-Nash officiating. Organist was Gail Dorr. Music selections included “Spirit, Spirit of Gentleness,” “I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry” and “You Have Come Down to the Lakeshore.” A special music selection “The River Flows” was played by his granddaughter, Beth Jacques, on the piano. The readings included from the Old Testament Psalm 121 and from the New Testament John 6:35-40. Military honors were provided by the Maine Military Funeral Honors Program from Augusta. A reception followed downstairs in the church dining room. Arrangements were under the care of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford.
