KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — Nelson Lee Whary, 81, former resident of Kings Mountain, N.C., peacefully passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4,  at home.

He was born in Lewiston to the late Lee Nelson Whary and Roseanna Aube Whary. Mr. Whary was a former employee of Giant Foods, Landover, Md., and the United States Postal Service, Fayetteville, N.C. He was formerly employed as clubhouse manager for the Kings Mountain Country Club. He was a member of the Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church, Belmont, N.C., and the Elks Lodge No. 1081 of Fayetteville, N.C. Nelson was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Nelson is survived by his wife of 59 years, Billie Hardee Whary of Mt. Holly, N.C.; daughters, Kay W. Comer of Mt. Holly, N.C., Paula W. Greene and husband, Tim, of Charlotte, N.C., and Connie W. Greene and husband, Dale, of Kings Mountain, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Megan Savage and husband, Kevin, Anna Sweeney and husband, Ian, Andrew Moore and wife, Maurissa, Christopher Greene and wife, Kaleigh, Mary Greene, Victoria Fore and husband, Nathan, and Meredith Greene; and seven great-grandchildren.
