AUBURN — Post 1603, VFW, will hold the DUM BUM Show with local music from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at 588 Minot Ave.

The show is free to attend.

Michael School Band at Legion

AUBURN — The William J. Rogers Post No. 153, American Legion, and Auxiliary Unit No. 153 will host the Michael School Band will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at 71 South Main St.

Midlife workshop for women Oct. 15

AUBURN — The workshop “Exploring your personal Tree of Life at Midlife and Beyond” will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the First Universalist Church of Auburn, 169 Pleasant St.

In this workshop for women, the Rev. D’Vorah Kelley will explore what each attendee still wants to do with her life that feels important and fulfilling.

Women should bring their own bag lunch, and enter through the Spring Street entrance.

Cost is $45. Scholarships are available.

Readfield’s historical treasures tour

READFIELD — The Readfield Cemetery Committee, Union Meeting House and Readfield Historical Society will host a tour featuring the history of and current renovations at the Union Meeting House.

Then, after a brief walk to the Readfield Corner Cemetery, historian Dale Potter-Clark will share stories about those who founded the Union Meeting House, Maine governors and those who have served the country with valor.

Members of the Cemetery Committee will also give a stone cleaning demonstration to show their ongoing effort to preserve and restore historical stones.

The event will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Union Meeting House on Church Road. The rain date is Saturday, Oct. 22.

Little Heart Hero Day Oct. 16

LEWISTON — The American Heart Association of Maine’s second annual Little Heart Hero Day will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at The Dolard & Priscilla Gendron Franco Center, 46 Cedar St.

The event is an afternoon designed to bring fun and networking for children with congenital heart defects and their families.

There will be pumpkin decorating, hands-only CPR demonstrations, face-painting and a balloon artist. There will be the opportunity to make a heart canvas craft using a child’s footprint/handprint, and to make a health snack bag.

The group’s mascot, Ticket, will also be at the event. All “heart heroes,” survivors of congenital heart defects, will receive special red capes.

Country musician Mark Gentle of Farmington will perform live music.

Crafters sought for fair

GRAY — The Women’s Auxiliary of Post 86, American Legion, will host a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at 15 Lewiston Road. 

Proceeds from the event will benefit veterans and their families.

The cost of a table will be $25. Payment made to ALA Unit 86 should be sent to P.O. Box 428, Gray ME 04039.
