Oxford County Republicans to meet

OXFORD — The Oxford County Republican Committee will hold its last meeting before Election Day on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Oxford County Republican headquarters, 1570 Main St.

There will be a social hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by the business meeting at 6 p.m. John Williams, chairman of the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce, will be the guest speaker.

Pizza, coffee and soda will be available.

Kids Walk for Kids Oct. 15

FARMINGTON — Groups of dedicated supporters of children will gather at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Meetinghouse Park for the Franklin County Children’s Task Force annual Kids Walk for Kids Walk-Thon.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. Participants are encouraged to wear team shirts or a fun outfit. Coffee, hot chocolate and refreshments will be served.

All proceeds will benefit the newly formed 21st Century Kids of FRANKLIN after-school program.

The Weary Club to meet Oct. 15

NORWAY — Members of The Weary Club will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, for coffee and conversation.

Maple syrup session set for Oct. 15

WILTON — The Upper Kennebec Valley Chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine will host an information session with maple syrup producer Russell Black from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 15, at his farm Black Acres, 123 Black Road.

The session is geared toward woodlands owners thinking of entering syrup production, or for more seasoned folks who might see ways to improve their existing operation.

A representative of CDL Maine, a new distributor in Wilton of all things maple syrup, will be on hand.

It’s free and open to the public. Attendees should dress for the weather, as a portion of the talk will be outside.

Library offering Story Time 

DIXFIELD — There will be Story Time Mondays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Ludden Memorial Library, except during school closings and holidays.

There will be stories, crafts and healthy snacks.

Edgewood seeking craft vendors

FARMINGTON — Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center will host a craft fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at 221 Fairbanks Road.

Tables can be rented by calling 207-778-3386. Cost is $5 for a small table, $10 for a large table.

There will also be a Chinese auction, and a corn chowder lunch served from 11 a.m. to noon for a fee.

Maine Savvy Caregiver 1 Training

LEWISTON — SeniorsPlus will host Savvy Caregiver 1 training from 2 to 4 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 17 to Nov. 21, at SeniorsPlus Education Center, 8 Falcon Road.

Valerie Cole is the facilitator.

For those caring for a family member with dementia, this training will teach how to take care of themselves, reduce stress and also communicate more easily with the loved one.

This class is free but preregistration is required.
