Gov. Paul LePage has a collection of clippings which he claims to contain “the enemy” — Hispanic and black people. Unlike the governor, I’m not into scrap-booking, but I have a photo album of Hispanic-Americans — my family.
We’ve been married 30 years, with a daughter in college. We pay taxes, vote, volunteer in the community, keep our yard mowed. We try to be good neighbors. Our horse gets loose, occasionally. Sorry about that.
I emailed Randy Greenwood, District 82 representative. He has sponsored only two bills, neither of which is much to write home about. I gave him a chance to be a stand-up guy, for whom character matters more than skin color and to speak up for those of us angered by the governor’s words.
He didn’t respond. So much for leadership.
He hasn’t earned the right to be my representative. Does he deserve to be anyone else’s?
