1925 – 2016

SOUTH PARIS — Arthur E. Bubier, 91, of South Paris, formerly of Jay, died peacefully in the afternoon hours of Sunday, Oct. 9, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, with family at his side.

He was born on Feb. 3, 1925, in Chesterville, a son of Guy and Grace (Thompson) Bubier. He attended Wilton schools and Wilton Academy and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Upon his return from the war, he was employed at the Wilton Woolen Mill where he met the love of his life, Julienne Fortier, of Jay. They married on Sept. 3, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wilton.

For many years, Mr. Bubier was employed as an electrician at IP (Otis Mill), where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club; he retired in June 1988. For many years, he and his wife wintered in St. Cloud, Fla.

He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and working in the woods. He especially liked working at his camp on Wilson Pond in Wilton, the gathering spot for family, where he taught his beloved grandchildren to water ski, fish and enjoy the great outdoors. It was here that he found many peaceful hours simply fishing in his beloved boat. He enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and was a devoted fan of the New England Patriots.

He was a former member of the Hosmer-Edwards American Legion Post in Wilton, the Wilton Wanderers Snowmobile Club, and the Friends of Wilson Lake.

He is loved by his wife of 68 years, Julienne, of Jay; their children, Brenda Robinson and her husband, Steven, of Rio Vista, Calif..; Shirlene Ring and her husband, Robert, of The Villages, Fla. and Kathleen Pike and her husband, Joel, of Jay; nine grandchildren, Sarah Harris, Kristy (Ring) Hall and husband, Matt, Julie Harris-Wai and husband, Conrad Wai, Amanda (Ring) Milochik and her husband, Michael, Rachel Pike, Hallie Pike, Chandler Pike, Cecilia Pike, and Samuel Pike; three great-grandchildren, Murphy Hall, Elijah Hall and Otis Harris-Wai; two sisters, Thelma Storer and her husband, Joseph, of Wilton and Maxine Collins of Wilton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Randall “Randy” Bubier, who died in 1971; and siblings, Charles Bubier, Irene Lowell, Walter Bubier and Ruth Stratton; and an infant sister.
