1941 – 2016

LIVERMORE FALLS — Gerald E. Richards, 74, of Livermore Falls, passed away at home Saturday, Oct. 8.

He was born in Jay on Nov. 29, 1941, the son of the late Archie and Lillian (Powers) Richards. He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Marlene Louise (Putnam) Richards.

Jerry and Marlene owned and operated Richards Mini Mart in Livermore for several years and Jerry retired from Wilton Academy where he managed the custodial department. He was passionate about automobiles, spending many hours of his retirement purchasing, repairing and reselling them. He loved to negotiate and mingle with all potential sellers and buyers. Jerry enjoyed camping and spending time harness racing with family and friends.

He is survived by his sisters, Faye James of Rochester, N.H. and Diane Bonito of Madison; his children, Ronald Richards of Las Vegas, Nev., Randy Richards and wife, Pamela, of Chalfont, Penn. and Ricky Richards and wife, Janet, of Pittston. Jerry also leaves behind special friend, Susan O’Leary of Lisbon; sister-in-law, Bonnie Flynn of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Joey, Michelle, April, Jessica, T.J. and Brian; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Jerry was also predeceased by his siblings, Raymond, Beatrice, Arlene, Beverly, Horace, Reggie and Gary Richards.

Jerry was always the first to lend a helping hand. A kind, compassionate and warm soul — he will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know and love him.
