1942 – 2016

AUBURN — Joseph Couturier, 74, of Turner, died Saturday afternoon, Oct. 8, at The Hospice House, with his family by his side following a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Lewiston on July 24, 1942, a son of Leo and Lizzie (Lavoie) Couturier, and was educated in Lewiston schools. Joseph met his loving wife, the former Heidi Lange, and they were married for 41 years.

Mr. Couturier was a military veteran and dedicated 20 years of service to the U.S. Air Force, spending several of his final years as an aerospace ground equipment technician until his retirement and honorable discharge in 1987. Among his favorite enjoyments were fishing and playing pool, and he played competitively in many different billiards leagues over the years.

He was a loving, devoted and hardworking husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed.

He leaves behind his wife, Heidi Couturier of Turner; two sons, Craig Martlock and wife, Mary Beth, of Lewiston and Simon Martlock and wife, Jill, of Virginia; two daughters, Cristal Couturier-Dill and husband, Daniel, of Turner and Michelle Hodgkin of Gorham; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Roger Couturier of Greene and Don Drouin and wife, Jean, of Leeds; and several nieces and nephews.
