AUGUSTA — Maine State Police say a 2-year-old boy was killed when his grandfather backed over him with a tractor in the town of Burnham.
Police say 54-year-old Raymond Rayeski Sr. was watching his grandson, Raymond Rayeski III, when the incident happened on Monday.
The man drove the boy to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield, where he died.
Detectives determined that the death was a tragic accident.
Investigators say the boy had been on the tractor with his grandfather before getting off the tractor to play. The grandfather was cleaning up debris and dumping the items a short distance away, and didn’t realize that the boy had walked behind the tractor.
