JAY — Spruce Mountain High School has announced its activities from Oct. 24 through Nov. 5.
College & Career Fair: Barbara Jewett has coordinated a job fair for students in grades seven through 12 for Thursday, Oct. 27, in the high school gym. Nearly 50 area businesses, colleges and military recruiters will be available for all students to meet with. Seniors will be able to apply with an “admit-in-a-day” procedure with area colleges. Finance Authority of Maine will be on hand to help with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid questions.
Student of the Month assembly: Friday, Oct. 28. It will recognize the October Students of the Month, Phoenix Award winner, and the Department Award winners.
Math Meet: The SMHS Math Team will attend a math meet at Mountain Valley High School on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
Fall Sports Banquet: 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in the SMHS cafeteria. It will honor the athletes from soccer, golf, football, field hockey, cross country running, and cheering. Ice cream brownie sundaes will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference and school awards will be presented to the athletes. Families are welcome.
Guidance Office news: The end of the first quarter is Friday, Nov. 4. Parent/teacher conferences will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, and from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16. Parents should call the high school to schedule a conference.
College visits: A representative from area colleges will be at SMHS to meet with any interested students on the following dates:
Wednesday, Oct. 26: Colby College, 11:30 a.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 26: St. Joseph’s College, 12:30 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 28: Washington County Community College, 12:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 1: Eastern Maine Community College, 8 a.m.
