It is too bad that Lisa Keim has chosen to spread extremely misleading literature about her opponent rather than using her resources to earn the trust of the people of District 18.

Keim’s recent fliers claim that Sen. John Patrick voted against testing felons for drugs before receiving welfare. What those mailers don’t say is that the same bill would have created a hugely expensive drug testing requirement for all adults receiving benefits under the TANF program, not just “drug felons.”

Sen. Patrick has worked to pass welfare reforms that eliminate fraud and ensure that welfare dollars are spent on necessities. He has also worked hard during the past 14 years to earn the trust of the people of his district by being honest. Keim would do well to follow his example.

I will be casting my ballot to re-elect state Sen. John Patrick.
