What is the most pressing problem in your district and what do you plan to do about it?

Unemployment and property taxes. I plan to support legislation that will address the cost of education and the state’s mandate to pay 55 percent of school funding and support increases in homestead exemption. I will support legislation that creates a better business climate by reducing unnecessary regulations that stifle economic growth.

Gov. Paul LePage wants to eliminate the state income tax. Do you support that? If not, why not?
Yes.

Are you willing to support raising the fuel tax to fix Maine roads? If not, why not?

No. You can’t continue to tax yourself out of problems, and over the years we have passed bonds that should be funding the issue of road repair.

The relationship between the governor and the Legislature has deteriorated over the past six years. What can the Legislature do to improve that relationship?

The Legislature and the governor’s office need to communicate with a spirit of cooperation to ultimately do what is best for the people of the state of Maine. We must not lose sight of why we are all there.

What methods do you support to reduce opiate addiction in Maine?

From my law enforcement background, I would say the reduction of supply. With that said, we can never lose sight of the need for education and treatment. With this battle before us, the last thing we need to do is legalize marijuana.
