AUGUSTA — Maine authors John Ford and Mark Nickerson journey to Lithgow Public Library for their Blue Lights and Funny Cider tour at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10.
The program will be held in the Community Room. It’s free and open to the public.
Ford comes from a long line of Maine game wardens. He spent his 20-year warden career in Waldo County.
Upon his retirement in 1990, he was elected as county sheriff and re-elected in 1994. He has written a local newspaper column and is a regular contributor to the Northwoods Sporting Journal. He has also authored two books, “Suddenly, the Cider Didn’t Taste So Good: Adventures of a Game Warden in Maine” and “This Cider Still Tastes Funny: Further Adventures of a Maine Game Warden.”
Nickerson, a graduate of Cony High School, originally studied to become a dentist, but the pull of law enforcement was too enticing, so he followed in the footsteps of his father and joined the Maine State Police. After 28 years with the State Police, Mark retired and began writing columns about police work for The Citizen in Belfast, and later for The Republican Journal. His stories were later compiled into his book, “Blue Lights in the Night.”
Lithgow Library is at 45 Winthrop St.
