NEW VINEYARD — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of about 10 granite foundation slabs that were taken from a Griffin Mountain Road property over the past three months. The road is off Parlin Hill Road.

The granite is described as being 1 foot in width and 3 t0 5 feet in height. Combined, the slabs are about 80 feet in length, Deputy Brad Scovil said. They are valued at more than $2,000.

The owner of the property who does not live in Maine noticed the granite missing on a recent visit, he said.

It would take heavy equipment to move and pick up the granite.

If anyone knows about the stolen granite or has purchased some or all of the stolen granite or may have seen granite being loaded or taken from this area, they are asked to please call Scovil at 207-778-2680.
