I am dismayed by the horrible signs and letters to the editor of the Sun Journal that express negativity, thereby encouraging the hateful rhetoric in this political campaign time. It is so bad this year, I feel it has incited near criminal activity — certainly the talk of it — meaning angry voters seem ready to shoot to kill certain candidates.

The hate and anger are being promoted by the Republicans and the dialogue is inflammatory enough to cause personal damage being done. On my way home on Route 4, I saw a new sign that says “Trump or Traitor.” That is an untruth, as is the recent letter to the editor that called for Hillary Clinton to be jailed.

Inciting riot or personal harm is mighty damaging to a person and to this country. No one should do it, but it appears some people think that will help their cause. I wonder what they would say if people with poor judgment took matters into their angry hands and used guns to kill?

Such an angry way of campaigning must stop. America is better than that.
