LEWISTON — Military veterans Mark Cater and Rich Kowalczyk will be guest speakers at the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary meeting Nov. 10.

It will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the Ramada Inn and Conference Center on Pleasant Street.

Mark Cater is a local veterans employment representative for the Maine Department of Labor at the Lewiston CareerCenter. His background includes working as a disabled veterans outreach program specialist and manager of the Maine Military Family Assistance Center, where he also served as a specialist assisting military families of all branches of service at the center.

Cater spent 26 years serving his country. He spent 21½ years in the Maine Army National Guard as a medic, logistics specialist, training NCO, UH-1 helicopter crew chief and recruiter. He retired as the state recruiting sergeant major.

His volunteer work includes serving as past president of the Augusta Area Military Association. He continues as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

Cater holds a master-level human resources certificate; Bachelor of Science degree in multimedia visual communications; and an associate accreditation in business.

Kowalczyk is a disabled veteran outreach program representative for the Maine Department of Labor at the Lewiston CareerCenter. His background includes working as a heavy equipment operator, and as a driver and oil burner technician for M.W. Sewall.

Kowalczyk retired after 24 years of active duty in the U.S. Navy as a naval air crewman flying in the P-3 Orion as an anti-submarine warfare operator chief. While in the Navy, he was a financial counselor, manager, master training specialist, career counselor and survival instructor.

His volunteer work includes being a service officer for American Legion Post 20 in Brunswick, and a member of Maine Military Community Network and Point in Time survey committees. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in human resource management from Southern New Hampshire University.
