Physically, the Vikings aren’t scared of anybody. And emotionally, they are coming off their first playoff win in 16 years. But they’re making their way to Fitzpatrick Stadium two weeks earlier than every team dreams of at the start of the regular season, and they have the facility’s tenants to get through. The Bulldogs are playing as well as anyone right now, even if they had a week off with a first-round bye. This will be a tough game for the Vikings to win.

Class C South semifinals

No. 4 SPRUCE MOUNTAIN (6-3) at No. 1 CAPE ELIZABETH (9-0)

Friday, 7 p.m.

The Phoenix return to the scene of their biggest loss of the season, though they were a different team back then. While the Phoenix have improved, grown and healed, the Capers have only strengthened their claim as the team to beat. It will take a more complete game from the Phoenix than they have shown recently in two close wins to make it three in a row and one big upset.

Class D South semifinals

No. 4 DIRIGO (5-3) at No. 1 WINTHROP/MONMOUTH (7-0)

Friday, 7 p.m.

The Ramblers didn’t have too many struggles during the regular season, but the Cougars were one of they did face, in a 14-6 Ramblers’ home win. Winthrop/Monmouth has had two bye weeks in a row, and had some easier games before that. The Cougars, meanwhile, have been locked in for weeks.

No. 3 OAK HILL (6-2) at No. 2 LISBON (6-1)

Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

Yet again, these two rivals meet in the postseason. It’s been Oak Hill on the winning end the past four years, but the Greyhounds got some revenge during the regular season. Lisbon is coming off a bye week after getting hot down the stretch. The Raiders had to sweat out Traip last week to get here.
