FARMINGTON — Now in its third year of operation, Western Maine Homeless Outreach is once again holding a benefit dinner dance to raise funds to support the operations of its homeless shelter in Farmington.
The Calzolaio Pasta Co. in Wilton is donating the lasagna dinner, and the band To Be Determined (that is the band’s name) is providing the music for the dance. This event will be held at Titcomb Mountain Lodge, 180 Ski Slope Road in West Farmington. The evening’s proceeds will go to the shelter.
Purchase of a gold ticket ($35 for singles, $60 for couples) includes a social hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. with appetizers and one drink ticket before the dinner and dance. Silver tickets for those who prefer to start their evening with dinner at 6:30 p.m. are $25 for singles, $45 for couples. Admission for dancing only, from 8 to 11 p.m., is $10 per person.
In addition to providing emergency shelter for those in need of it, WMHO has also been highly successful this past year in helping shelter guests move into permanent housing, thanks in large part to the initiative and leadership of the shelter’s manager, Tricia Plourde, and to the generosity of donors throughout western Maine. Friends of the shelter have not only provided financial support, but have also supplied the shelter with everyday housekeeping items such as paper towels, toilet paper, disinfectant wipes, all-purpose cleaner and trash bags, not to mention gifts of furniture for guests moving into rental housing and a much needed new clothes dryer for the shelter.
