1932 – 2016
FARMINGTON — Harold M. Johnson Jr., 84, a resident of Jay, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.
He was born March 21, 1932, in Conway, N.H., the son of Harold M. Johnson Sr. and Ardella (Collins) Johnson. Harold was a graduate of Jay High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War.
On Aug. 14, 1954, in Jay he married C. Elaine Cameron. She passed away Jan. 17, 2014.
Harold worked for Livermore Shoe for over 25 years and later as a custodian for Jay High School, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed bowling and loved his cat, “Big Guy.”
He is survived by three sons, John Johnson and his wife, Sharon, Michael Johnson, and Bill Johnson and his wife, Corrina, all of Jay; three daughters and their husbands, Sandy and Peter Bryant of New Sharon, Nadine and Larry Ivey of Slidell, La., and Valerie and Kevin Samson of Palm Bay, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Robert Johnson, and his wife, Avis, of Chesterville.
He was predeceased by brothers, John and Edward Johnson.
