1926 – 2016

LEWISTON — Murielle Marie-ange Lapointe, 90, of Greene, passed away peacefully at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston on Saturday, Nov. 5, following a brief illness.

Born in Lewiston on Sept. 1, 1926, she was the daughter of Doria and Marianna Bissonette Gauthier, and stepdaughter of Delina Fortin Gauthier. She was a well-known seamstress in the area for many years.

On April 3, 1948, she married Alfred Lapointe Jr. and together they raised three children. Alfred died in 2005 after they shared 57 years together. She loved to sew, do crafts, decorate and garden. Her final months were spent in the home of her daughter, Diane, with her husband, Cleve. She called her new home “a house full of love” as she enjoyed time spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is sadly missed by her daughters, Jeannette and husband, Al Friend, and Diane and husband, Cleve Hayes; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides her parents, stepmother, and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Robert Lapointe; and brother, Roger Gauthier.
