1918 – 2016

AUBURN — Yvonne P. Camire, 98, formerly of Meadowview Park, Lewiston, died Saturday, Nov. 5, at Sarah Frye Home.

Born in Lewiston on March 6, 1918, the daughter of the late Ernest and Alice (Ouellette) Plourde, she was a resident of this community her entire life. On Nov. 27, 1943 she married Roger Camire, who died on April 24, 1997.

Yvonne worked in the local textile industry as a stitcher at Bates Mill for 25 years, until her retirement in 1980.

She was a parishioner of Holy Family Church, member of the Ladies of St. Ann’s, Les Marchandes de Bonheure, Covenant 50, Horizon 55 and was an avid bingo and card player. Yvonne loved family gatherings and going out to eat. Her family always enjoyed her meat pies during the holidays and her homemade slippers for Christmas.

She is survived by one daughter, Lorraine Desrochers and her husband, Rene, of Auburn; one sister, Jeannette Beauchesne of Lewiston; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Camire of Sabattus; five grandchildren, Joline Lajoie and her husband, Rob, Deborah (Desrochers) Jacques and her husband, Paul, Carol Rossignol, Gary Camire and his wife, Irene and Rodney Camire; 12 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Gil.

She was predeceased by one son, Maurice Camire; and a sister, Gilberte Poulin.
