AUGUSTA — Maine officials say the state’s unemployment rate of 4 percent in October was down slightly from the previous month.
The unemployment rate in September was 4.1 percent, and the rate a year ago was 4.2 percent. The nationwide rate of 4.9 percent was also down slightly, as it was 5 percent a month ago and a year ago.
Officials say the number of employed people in Maine changed little over the course of the year and sat at 28,000.
New England’s region-wide unemployment rate was 3.9 percent. The lowest rate in the region was 2.8 percent in New Hampshire and the highest rate was 5.5 percent in Rhode Island.
