DEAR SUN SPOTS: My name is Joy Bordeau, and I am the Chaplain and Americanism Officer for the Napoleon Ouellette Post 24, American Legion, 184 Congress St. in Rumford. This Saturday, Nov. 19, we are having a day of celebration for all women who have served or are serving in the military. Our day starts at 9:30 a.m. with pampering for the women. There is nail painting, hair dressers, mini massages, breakfast with coffee, tea, muffins, and more. Then in the afternoon there is a luncheon with guest speakers and some raffles for the women to enjoy. — Joy, Rumford.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Peru ATV Riders are looking for some new officers for our ATV Club. We have more than 22 miles of trails and could use some help and fresh ideas to move the club forward. We are in immediate need of a president for the coming year and welcome others who are interested in other positions. Please attend our end-of-year meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Peru Fire Station if interested in joining the club or becoming an officer. Thanks, happy trails. — No name, Peru.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: As Thanksgiving approaches I have a question for your readers to think about.

Would you like to give thanks by giving back? SeniorsPlus is recruiting Meals on Wheels volunteers to serve as drivers in Auburn. We desperately need at least three volunteers to step up so we can split a very long route. Ask a friend to team up with you and serve together. Please consider donating one morning a week to help your community. For more information please email [email protected] or call 207-513-3710. Thank you and happy Thanksgiving. — Heather Chandel, Coordinator of Volunteer Services.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you know where I could help serve Thanksgiving dinner? Shelters, churches, etc? — No name, no town.

ANSWER: Hope Haven Gospel Mission, located at 209 Lincoln St. in Lewiston, needs volunteers. They are serving Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please call 207-783-6086 for more information.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Merry Christmas everyone! I am part of a group of people who try to ensure that all local kids in Canton have a Merry Christmas no matter how much the household budget prohibits it. We call ourselves the Canton Angels. We are looking for any help the community can offer us from your time to your generous gifts. The leading Angel contact person is Donna Hebert, please call 207-597- 2272.

As we have more time than money I try to do my part by volunteering to don a red suit and work for cookies. This year Mrs. Claus (Linda Williams) will be joining me on most expeditions and on occasion, as her busy schedule permits, we will have an Elf (Alyssa Emery). I am looking for people that have a need for Santa at their public or private function this Christmas season. We will enchant kids in the local area (within 25 miles) for a donation to the Canton Angels and a cookie for Santa. Santa’s booking agent, Chris Dailey, can be reached at 207-597-2261.—Chris Dailey and Linda Williams, Canton.
