AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library has released its teen programming for December.
Friday Movie: 3 to 5:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in the Androscoggin Community Room, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” a Christmas classic. There will be seasonal snacks. This event is just for teens ages 12 to 18.
Homework Help: 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Dec. 6 and 13, in the Teen Space. Teens in grades seven to 12 can stop in for a healthy snack and homework help. They can receive help with time management, schedule planning, goal setting and learning how to be successful with homework.
Tweens in the Teen Space: noon to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Dec. 7 and 14, in the Teen Space. Sixth-graders are invited to join the Teen Space on the second floor on half-day Wednesdays. They can get a head start on their homework, work on crafts, or play a board game.
Teen Anime Club: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens ages 12 to 18 can drop in to discuss their favorite (or least favorite) manga, watch this week’s selection of anime and try their hand at drawing their own characters. Snacks will be provided.
Safe Voices: 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, in the Teen Space. Whitney from Safe Voices will visit to discuss relationships and work on projects. This is just for teens ages 12 to 18.
Snack Chat!: 3 to 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, in the Teen Space. This will feature a healthy after-school snack and the chance to engage in enlightening conversation about current events. It’s just for teens ages 12 to 18.
Gaming Hour: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, Dec. 14 and 23, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens can take a break from studying and stop by the Androscoggin Room on the lower level for video games and snacks. There is a Microsoft Xbox and Nintendo Wii with a small collection of games. Teens are welcome to bring their favorites, but only those rated T and E. This is just for teens ages 12 to 18.
Discoveries in STEM: 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, in the Teen Space. Maisy Cyr of 4-H will discuss how science, technology and math are used outside the classroom. Attendees may dabble in food science, animal science, simple machinery and technology, or simply make some crazy creations. Attendees should bring big ideas and an open mind. This program is just for teens ages 12 to 18.
Maine Job Corps: 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, in the conference room. Jill Moody of the Maine Job Corps will explain how the program works and who is eligible.
DIY Takeover: Cookies in a Jar: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, in the Teen Space. Teens are welcome in the Teen Space on the third Wednesday of every month for a do-it-yourself craft. This craft session includes putting together cookies in a jar and making candy cane sleighs. This is just for teens ages 12 to 18.
SAPARS: 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, in the Teen Space. Hannah from Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Services will discuss and create awareness of teen issues such as healthy relationships, sexual assault, bullying, harassment, substance use/abuse, and internet safety. This event is just for teens and may include snacks.
