1932 – 2016
RUMFORD — Maryann “Sylvia” Arsenault, 84, died peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 23, at the Rumford Hospital surrounded by her family. She was a longtime resident of Rumford.
Born in Skinners Pond, Prince Edward Island, Canada on Aug. 1, 1932, she was a daughter of Joseph and Beatrice (Gallant) Arsenault. She attended school in Skinners Pond, PEI. She was a communicant of the Parish of The Holy Savior, St. Athanasius – St. John Church and was very active in church affairs. She was also a member of the Rumford Hospital and American Legion Auxiliary. Sylvia’s greatest joys were talking about how proud she was of her children, spoiling her grandchildren, sharing stories and playing cards over a cup of tea with her many friends, her Friday night cribbage games, and her weekly visits to the casino. Her favorite memories came from her times spent at their summer cottage in PEI.
She was married in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, on July 26, 1958, to Urbain C. “Joe” Arsenault who survives of Rumford. She is survived by loving children, Robert Arsenault and wife, Lisa, of Mexico, Eric Arsenault and wife, Jaime, of Rumford, Lynne White of Cumberland, and Carol Clardy and husband, Kurt, of Overland Park, Kan. Grandma will be sadly missed by her beloved grandchildren Adam and Kelley White of Cumberland, Joey Arsenault of Kokomo, Ind., and Brian Arsenault of Malden, Mass., Katelyn and Matthew Clardy of Overland Park, Kan., Aaron and Erica Arsenault of Rumford. Surviving brothers include Howard Arsenault of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and Leroy Arsenault of Skinners Pond, PEI.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Melvina Peters, Irene Arsenault and Emily Gerogiannis; and two brothers, Ernest and Jerry Arsenault.
