AUGUSTA — Maine’s secretary of state says recounts will get underway in the coming days for a pair of ballot questions that were approved by voters.
One of the questions concerns the legalization of marijuana for recreational use.
The other institutes a 3 percent tax on households that earn more than $200,000 per year. The money will go toward public education.
Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap says the recount about the school tax question will get started on Thursday. The marijuana recount will then begin on Dec. 5. The recounts are expected to take four to six weeks.
The recounts are open to the public and will take place in the Florian Room of the Maine Department of Public Safety building in Augusta.
