1923 – 2016

NORWAY — Florence T. Carro, 93, of South Paris passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Skowhegan on Feb. 11, 1923, the fourth of five daughters of Edwin R. and Elsie Martindale True. She graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1940 and Cooley Dickinson Hospital School of Nursing in Northampton, Mass., in 1947. Florence was married to Joseph P. Carro on April 4, 1952, by the Rev. Kenneth Gray in South Paris.

She worked at C.M.G., now known at Central Maine Medical Center and several nursing homes. She worked at Stephens Memorial Hospital from 1957 to 1977, where she proudly helped deliver seven of her 12 grandchildren. She retired from nursing in 1992.

Florence is survived by two daughters, Nancy Bedard of Norway and Anne Carro of Lewiston; many grandchildren, including grandson, Wayne Reynold of Norway who lived with her; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Larrabee; cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; a son, Wayne I. Carro; three sisters, infant Beatrice, Gladys Phelps and Glennis Doran; and a granddaughter, Michelle C. Moran.
