1948 – 2016

AUBURN — Wendell S. Norton, 68, of Chesterville passed peacefully Sunday afternoon Dec. 4, at the Hospice House in Auburn with family by his side.

He was born March 1, 1948, in Farmington, a son of Wendell and Audrey (Woodcock) Norton. He was a graduate of Farmington High school and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Wendell worked in construction, for the railroad and for G.H. Bass throughout his lifetime. He was a member of the Maine Bikers Association. An outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, he truly considered conservation of natural resources an obligation so that future generations would be privileged to enjoy the natural wonders of our environment.

He enjoyed cooking, baking, tinkering on trucks and watching for hummingbirds and eagles. His dog “Blackie” was a beloved best friend.

He leaves his children, Melanie J. Norton of North Turner and Wesley Norton and his companion, Tina Baker, of Jay; his mother, Audrey Norton of Chesterville; and three brothers, Elmer and his wife, Kristen Norton, William “Mouse” Norton and Clayton Norton and his companion, Joanne Shorey, all of Chesterville.
