Why are president-elect Donald Trump’s supporters trying to stop the recounts? What are they scared of? But then, this letter is not about that.

The nation lost a great opportunity when President Obama took office. Had Congress worked across the aisles for the best interests of the nation, instead of political pandering and trying to “sandbag” the president, think how much better the country would be? President Obama inherited an $11 trillion debt and around a 12 percent unemployment rate. Now the unemployment rate is around 4.5 percent.

I have read Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope,” and realized what a fine person he is and how he worked across the aisles in both the Illinois and U.S. Senate. That Sen. Mitch McConnell and his cohorts would try to “sandbag” him is, in my estimation, cause for them to be voted out.

In summary, had members of Congress done the job they were elected to do, the nation’s voters would not have been so upset and president-elect Trump would not have stood a chance of being elected.

Now there is a person who will sit in the Oval Office — a person who throws tantrums and uses Twitter to send out tirades at all hours of the night. A person who will have access to the nuclear codes.

That really scares me. Heaven help us.
