LISBON FALLS — The deadline to apply for University of Maine Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteers program training in Androscoggin and Sagadahoc counties is Jan. 15, 2017.

The 14-week training will be held from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 28 to May 30, at the Topsham Public Library, 25 Foreside Road, Topsham.

The program provides participants with at least 40 hours of in-depth training in the art and science of horticulture. Trainees receive current, research-based information from Extension educators and industry experts. In return, trained master gardeners volunteer their time and expertise for related activities in their communities.

The fee for the course and materials is $220. Accepted applicants will be notified by Feb. 1.
