Reindeer to land in Farmington

FARMINGTON — The Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary gift shop will host a special holiday family event from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17.

Proceeds will benefit the FMH Auxiliary.

Activities will take place in the Bass Room, with the exception of visits with the live reindeer outside.

Available during the event will be goodies from Mrs. Claus’ kitchen, a letters to Santa table, coloring, games and crafts, a Holly Boutique and visits with the reindeer. At 3:45 p.m. Mrs. Claus will read a special story titled “Reindeer Wish,” about a girl who wishes for a puppy but befriends a baby reindeer and sets out on adventures with it.

A nominal fee will be charged for this charitable event.

Waterford Christmas celebration events

WATERFORD — There will be holiday music in the Waterford Congregational Church at 4 p.m. and the annual Christmas Carol Sing around the festive tree in the town common at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17.

After the carol sing, everyone is invited to the Waterford Library for warm drink and snacks and the reading of “‘Twas The Night Before Christmas” at 5 p.m. Rumors abound that Santa Claus will make an appearance.

Christmas tea will be served at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Wilkins House.

Informed Aging at SeniorsPlus

FARMINGTON – SeniorsPlus has announced the December offering of its Franklin County Education Program, connecting community members in the Farmington area with live educational seminars.

The class, Informed Aging, will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at 218 Fairbanks Road.

Instructor Valerie Cole, a licensed social worker from SeniorsPlus, will lead a discussion around planning for the future. The program will discuss home care services, home modification and navigating the long-term care system.

The class is free and open to the public.
