1931 – 2016
AUBURN —
died very peacefully with her family by her side Friday, Dec. 9.
Fran was born in 1931 and spent her formative years under the care of her loving aunt and uncle in Jackman. She lived from ages 17 to 83 in Massachusetts (Wrentham, Plainville and Foxboro) and worked for the Wrentham State School for 43 years, before retiring at age 60.
She then enjoyed traveling, mothering her kitties and dog, learning how to use a computer (becoming a Facebook friend to many) and enjoying the ease of online shopping and front-step, free delivery (especially from L.L.Bean and Wolferman’s English Muffins).
She treated herself to a convertible at age 70 and, weather permitting, would always insist the top be down (even if the windows had to be up and the heat on!)
Fran is survived by her niece, Cyndi (Rolande) Gilbert of Indian Harbour, Fla., and Deborah Taylor and her spouse, Louise Daigle of Portland; as well as her wonderful friend and next-door Foxboro neighbor, Pauline Stuart of Auburn, Mass., who was her daily Dunkin’ Donuts buddy.
Fran was predeceased by her sister, Theresa (Thibault/Taylor) Fontaine; and brother, Joseph Thibault.
After a stroke in 2014, she spent the last two years of her life at Clover Healthcare in Auburn, on the Clare Place unit in order to be closer to her Maine niece. She completely enjoyed those who cared for and befriended her, with special thanks to Cathy whom Fran grew to care for deeply. She benefited greatly from that bond while living at Clover.
She also was blessed to have the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice Dream Team for the last 16 months of her time at Clover — more special thanks to Margaret, Mona Lisa, Michelle and Terry for their amazing efforts to comfort her and her family along the journey to her life’s end.
