DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is a plea to the public. My grandson got off school Bus 14 in Lewiston and left behind his new violin. It was not on the bus when he rode it home Thursday afternoon. If someone has information regarding this instrument or can return it, please call the Lewiston police or call me at 207-402-4528. He has a Christmas concert to play in on Friday and no violin to play. I can pick it up if necessary. Thank you. — No name, no town.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you know of a dealer or repair person who works on Bose CD systems in your local area? — No name, Livermore Falls.

Local service for home audio equipment is available from Deny’s Service Center in Lewiston. They can be reached by calling 207-783-6869.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: After sitting through one of the world’s worst movies last Saturday, my lady-friend and I enjoyed dinner at the nearby Jasmine Cafe. When I asked our server for the check I was informed that another diner had paid for our meals and had already left the restaurant. Although I have read about this happening from time to time (I hope neither my friend nor I looked destitute and deserving of a meal) I just wish to take this opportunity to publicly thank my unknown host and to assure him or her that the gesture was passed on within minutes. I, too, secretly paid the check of a nearby table. — JG, no town.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Please help us out with where to buy cribbage board pegs. The plastic ones don’t last long, but they will do until metal ones are found. Thank you for your help, we’re longtime players. — No name, Farmington.
ANSWER: It is difficult to track down the pegs without purchasing an entirely new board, though there are many very nice metal pegs available online, especially through etsy.com. If online shopping is not your thing but you or someone you know is handy, try making your own. Double-headed nails, available at any hardware store, can be cut to size and smoothed with a grinder to make some very nice-looking and easy-to-use cribbage pegs.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The 16th Annual Free Community Christmas dinner will be held on Christmas Day at the American Legion in Livermore Falls. We will be serving dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and all are invited to attend. If you wish to join us call 207-897-3593 and leave your name and how many will be attending.
Every year we rely on community support to provide this meal. We are looking for volunteers who would like to cook or make a donation. We need bakers willing to cook about 15 pies and 16 to 18 batches of cookies. We try to send each person attending out with a gift of cookies to enjoy later. This year we have already received several turkeys and would like a couple more. We still need hams, potatoes, squash, stuffing and gravy mixes. If you would like to cook or make a donation please call Pam Newton at 207-897-3072. If you would like to volunteer to work at the dinner please call Karen Mitchell at 207-897-3593.
