1930 – 2016

AUBURN — Yvette R. Potvin, 86, formerly of Turner, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at the Hospice House in Auburn surrounded by her loving family.

Yvette was born in Hartford, Conn., on May 5, 1930, the daughter of Omar and Desneiges Drouin Raymond. The family moved to Lewiston, where she attended and graduated from St. Mary’s school.

While working in a shoe factory, she met and proposed to her husband, Fernand. They married on Thanksgiving Day in 1948 and had 11 children, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Yvette was devoted to her children and providing a strong and happy family environment. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, embroidery, quilting and crafting. She also enjoyed traveling, dining out and shopping.

Yvette is survived by five daughters, Rejeanne Bisson and her husband, Michel, of Lac Megantic, P.Q., Canada, Denise Potvin of Hallowell, Ann Nichols and husband, Clay, of Turner, Joline Timberlake and husband, Jeff, of Turner, and Monique Cote and husband, Stephen of Lewiston; five sons, Robert and his wife, Stephanie, of Lexington, Okla., Donald of Lewiston, Richard of Auburn, Gerard and his wife, Arlene, of Virginia Beach, Va., and David and his wife, Sally, of Leesburg, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Fernand, her daughter, Gina; her granddaughter, Desiree; brothers, George and Bert; and sisters, Joyce Chiasson and Lorraine Boisvert.

The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the care and attention provided to Yvette, in particular Tammy, Kristel and Barbara.
