1930 – 2016

LEWISTON — Joseph R. Robert, 86, of 20 Goff Ave., Lewiston, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Marshwood Center in Lewiston. His loving family was with him during his final hours.

Born in Lewiston on Oct. 20, 1930, he was the son of Edmond and Alma Robert. After graduating from Lewiston High School, Joseph enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in Okinawa during the Korean War. After the war, he married Connie Tremblay on Sept. 8, 1956, and they had two children together, Mark and Cindy.

He worked locally as a communications systems technician for New England Telephone and AT&T and later owned his own company, Robert’s Telephone Inc. After his retirement, he and Connie enjoyed traveling through Europe and North America. Joseph was a member of Holy Cross Church, Prince of Peace Parish, where for many years he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lori Robert; his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Ronald Boisvert; grandchildren, Christopher Boisvert and wife, Giovanna, Brittany Locke and husband, Ned; and great-grandchildren, Owen Joseph Boisvert and Benjamin Locke. He is also survived by sisters, Rolande St. Laurent and Doris Deschenes.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Adrianne Robert; and siblings, Germaine Robert, Marcel Robert, Lucille Champagne and Roland Robert.
