There were a lot of people who correctly guessed where last week’s Mystery Photo was taken. The holiday decorations are part of the display in Sullivan Square in New Auburn. The wreath is hanging on the side of Rolly’s Diner at the corner of South Main and Mill streets. The winner, Beth St. Pierre of Turner, drives past the display every day on her way to work. The small grassy area between Rolly’s and the Little Androscoggin River was named in 2012 to honor Dennis J. “Dinny” Sullivan and his son, John J. Sullivan, who owned a variety store on that spot for years. Dennis Sullivan emigrated to the U.S. in 1899, settling in Auburn. He opened his grocery store at 12 South Main St. in New Auburn about 1911. The New Auburn Business Association puts up the display for the holidays there in Sullivan Square, which is the final destination of Santa Claus during the annual holiday parade. St. Pierre is the winner of a $20 gift card, courtesy of Hannaford Supermarkets.
