This week’s poem by Anna Bat-Chai Wrobel meditates on the deep connection we all feel with one or two bodies of water in this state littered with lakes and ponds.
Lake Reunion
Clearwater Lake – Industry, Maine
By Anna Bat-Chai Wrobel
Why did I come
here and whose
voice speaks in the
loons?
Is moon-in-trees
a face I should know?
Or is it just me
looking back at
myself water beams
lighting from within?
Guitars and voices
lift to stars and treetops
as dragonflies in
battalions guard our
flank and flesh from
stings and bites.
This is a wondrous
lake too deep to
fathom
too clear to deny.
